Buffalo Grove students donate supplies to tornado victims

Buffalo Grove High School students turned their end-of-the-year locker clean out into a collection drive for students in Oklahoma who had lost everything in a tornado last month.

After the tornado leveled two schools and many students lost their homes, Buffalo Grove teacher Diane Baldwin said she wanted to see what she could do to help.

Baldwin and several of her students organized a collection drive of school supplies as students cleaned out their lockers at the end of the school year. Students donated 22 boxes of books, backpacks, pencil cases and other supplies that otherwise would have been thrown away or given to the Salvation Army.

ā€œIā€™m so proud of these students, who, through their generosity and concern for others, stepped up for such a great cause,ā€ Baldwin said.
