Quinn names staffer to head Board of Higher Education

Gov. Pat Quinn has named one of his top advisers to serve as chair of the Illinois Board of Higher Education.

Lindsay Anderson is an attorney who served most recently as senior adviser to Quinn. She is also chair of the Illinois Campaign Finance Reform Task Force.

In a statement Tuesday, Quinn says Anderson brings “extensive legal and governmental experience” to the job.

He says Anderson has coordinated and overseen legislative agendas for state agencies, including the Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.

She replaces Carrie Hightman.

The appointment is effective Wednesday.

Quinn spokeswoman Brooke Anderson says the position is unpaid.
