Hoffman Estates man charged in sexual assault of Palatine woman

A 39-year-old Hoffman Estates man faces a criminal sexual assault charge alleging he fondled a 23-year-old Palatine woman who had passed out on his couch Saturday.

Adam L. Jones, of the 900 block of Grand Canyon Boulevard, was charged after police investigated a report received about 6 p.m. Saturday.

The woman and some co-workers were gathered at Jones' home Saturday for a party where they were drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana, an Cook County assistant state's attorney said at a bond hearing Tuesday.

Prosecutors said the woman, who knew Jones before Saturday, passed out on a couch while the rest of the guests had left. When she awoke two hours later, she saw her dress was pulled up, her underwear pulled down, and Jones was filming her genital with a camera phone, prosecutors said.

Jones admitted to police that he fondled the woman and took advantage of her because “he had a pretty girl passed out on his couch,” prosecutors said.

Jones had multiple prior arrests and convictions for cannabis possession and delivery, authorities say. He served some jail time on the charges, prosecutors said.

Bond was set $100,000, meaning Jones must post $10,000 cash to be released. He was ordered to have no contact with the Palatine woman or anyone under 18 years old if released, and also must submit to drug monitoring.

Jones is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. June 21 at the Cook County courthouse in Rolling Meadows.
