Chicago Archdiocese ordains 10 priests, 3 from Northwest suburbs
Francis Cardinal George ordained 10 priests Saturday at Holy Name Cathedral, including three from the Northwest suburbs and three who will serve at parishes in Lake County.
The men, ranging in age from 26 to 53, include six from the Chicago area and one each from Haiti, Mexico, Poland and Uganda.
Rev. Roberto Mercado Jr., 32, from Arlington Heights, is assigned to St. George Parish, Tinley Park. Rev. Matthew Bozovsky, 33, from Des Plaines, will have his first assignment at St. Joseph Parish, 121 E. Maple Ave., in Libertyville. Rev. Brendan Guilfoil, 28, from Elk Grove Village, will have his first assignment at St. Mary Parish, 175 E. Illinois Road in Lake Forest. Rev. Julio Jimenez, 26, born in Acambay, Mexico, is assigned to St. Joseph Parish, 114 N. Lincoln Ave., in Round Lake.
The other new priests include, Rev. Mark Augustine, 28, from Evergreen Park, who is assigned to Our Lady of Ransom Parish, 8300 N. Greenwood in Niles; Rev. Geofrey Andama, 31, born in Uganda; Rev. Thomas Byrne, 29, from Chicago; Rev. Kevin McCray, 53, of Marion, Ind.; Rev. Rodlin Rodriguez, 38, from Cerca-Carvajal, Haiti; and Rev. Rafal Stecz, 29, born in Myszkow, Poland.
