Haran named deputy chief of recorder of deeds office

A former Lake County public defender has been named the chief deputy of the Lake County Recorder of Deeds Office.

Cynthia Pruim Haran of Round Lake replaces the retiring Marc Brogan in the post.

Lake County Recorder of Deeds Mary Ellen Vanderventer said Haran brings a legal background and experience to the recorder’s office after serving in the public and private sectors.

“Cynthia will be able to come in and hit the ground running,” Vanderventer said. “As a Lake County public defender since 2004, she brings a unique legal perspective that will serve us well as we continue to fine tune products and services for our customers.”

Prior to attending law school, Haran was in executive management with Hilton Hotels, Vanderventer said. She has a bachelor of arts degree in communications from Loyola University Chicago, and received her law degree at the Chicago Kent University of Law.

“I’m thrilled to become a member of the Lake County Recorder’s Office,” Haran said. “I am very passionate about serving the public, and I will work to ensure that we continue to deliver the best, professional service to our customers.”

Brogan worked as chief deputy in the recorders office for more than a decade, Vanderventer said, adding he “will be missed.”

The Lake County recorder’s office has a budget of $11 million and a staff of 27.
