Palatine slugs past Hersey

Palatine lashed out for 18 hits to take an 8-5 Mid-Suburban League crossover victory over host Hersey on Thursday.

Matt Saltess led the way for Palatine (12-8-1, 5-2) with 3 hits, including 2 doubles. With 2 hits each were Anthony Fortunato, Chris Macahon, Jarrod Juskiewicz, Zach Serna, Bill Stewart, Neal Ori and Matt Hogan.

Starter Jarrod Juskiewicz allowed 3 hits and no runs through the first 4 innings. When Hersey rallied in the bottom of the seventh, Juskiewicz went back to the mound in relief of Jason Lemonidis and got the final out.

Joe Silva had 2 hits and 2 RBI for Hersey (6-13, 4-5), and C.J. Reichel drove in 2 runs.

Christian Liberty sweeps: The Chargers got a pair of solid pitching performances and earned a sweep of Rockford Christian Life in a pair of 5-inning games in Northeastern Athletic Conference play.

In the first game, Dan Glad got the victory as Christian Liberty (10-9, 6-2) won 6-3.

In the second game, Aaron Karr was the winner as the Chargers scored 3 runs and limited Christian Life to 4 hits.
