Elgin runner tells Facebook friends she’s OK

West Elgin resident Sue Gruner was reportedly just one second from the finish line when the first explosion went off Monday at the Boston Marathon.

The race clock was reportedly at 4:09.44 when the first explosion went off. Gruner’s officially posted finish time was 4:09.45.

Gruner has not responded to messages left by the Daily Herald, but one of her Facebook friends reported she is safe with her husband in their hotel room.

Gruner posted the following on her Facebook page:

“To all my FB friends, Thank you all so much for your concern. I am OK! Was right at the finish line when the first bomb went off. It was so so scary. My ears were ringing for a long time. It’s such a sad day! I don’t feel like celebrating. Please pray for this town!”
