Gala benefit to support adults with special needs April 20

Resources for Community Living (RCL) is hosting its 15th annual gala benefit to support disabled adults who strive to live independently in their communities. A full evening with dinner, entertainment, silent and live auctions, raffles and other treats will be enjoyed by guests.

The event, which kicks off at 5:30 p.m., will be held on Saturday, April 20, at the beautiful Medinah Banquets in Addison.

Tickets can be purchased by calling (847) 701-1554, ext. 5#, or purchased online at www.rcl2bindependent.org. The attire is come-as-you-wish, from denim to diamonds. If you cannot attend, consider buying a raffle ticket for $10, for a chance for winning a pair of round-trip tickets on Southwest Airlines.

RCL provides a wide array of assistance based on the needs of the individual. The organization helps adults with developmental or physical disabilities find affordable housing, locate jobs, learn necessary living skills, and participate in social events. Funds raised at the event will keep these services and opportunities available to clients.

Clients are able to reduce their personal hurdles and manage their day better through receiving these supports. RCL offers local transportation and instructs on life skills such as paying bills, grocery shopping, cooking, and maintaining safety.

Dennis Fiedler, RCL board president, reflects on the importance of the gala. “We create an evening of fun, variety and enrichment for our attendees. Every year, this event grows in importance to continue providing critical services to our clients. We welcome the public to join us, donate, or volunteer to support our mission and make a difference.”

Since 1988, Resources for Community Living (RCL) has provided assistance to adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities.
