Candidates Night shed light on plans

Save Buffalo Grove is a grass-roots group of citizens concerned about the proposed plan for a downtown Buffalo Grove. On March 7, our group held Candidate's Night with the four individuals on the ballot for village trustee in our April 9 municipal elections.

The Save Buffalo Grove Steering Committee would like to thank the three incumbent trustee candidates — Les Ottenheimer, Andy Stein and Bev Sussman — for actively participating, along with Jeff Battinus, who is a write-in candidate. We had standing room only for 2½ hours, excellent attendance from the press, and a very interesting program.

We think the event was very successful. The information provided by the candidates was very helpful in educating the voters. We were able to learn about each candidate and recognize their level of dedication to community service. We gained their reactions to our campaign for a villagewide referendum, should they deem the Downtown Plan feasible and worthy.

We were pleased to hear that, from their perspectives, the downtown plan is barely in infancy stages; that the trustees will pursue due diligence, scrutinize all aspects of the plan, and move forward very cautiously, critically, and transparently. In essence, it's not a done deal.

Save Buffalo Grove encourages all voters in Buffalo Grove to vote in the upcoming municipal election.
