Lombard auctions ‘McIlroy’ car

The unmarked Lombard squad car Deputy Chief Pat Rollins used to drive professional golfer Rory McIlroy to the Ryder Cup last September is being auctioned on eBay until April 8.

Rollins gave McIlroy a ride on the international tournament’s last day when the golfer mistook his tee time by an hour. The police escort from the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center to Medinah Country Club allowed McIlroy to avoid disqualification and help the European team win the cup.

The car is a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria in good running condition with 89,900 miles, according to the village.
