FBI agent fires shots during chase in Chicago

An FBI agent has fired shots while chasing a man suspected in a shooting near the University of Illinois at Chicago.

The initial shooting took place Monday afternoon in a parking lot in the Illinois Medical District.

A statement on UIC’s website says University of Illinois Police and other law enforcement agencies were searching for the shooter when the suspect drove away.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the suspect crashed and abandoned the vehicle.

FBI spokesman Frank Bochte says at least one on-duty agent fired a shot during the pursuit, but it was not immediately known if anybody was struck. No agents were injured.

Chicago Fire Department Media Affairs says paramedics took two people from the area to Stroger Hospital.

UIC said Monday the suspect was not in custody.
