Trout season’s just around the corner
If the air temperature is below 15 degrees, it must be spring, eh?
Spring-schming, it’s colder than a mortgage payment out there.
But it also means the catchable trout season will be under way in two shakes of an icicle. Actually, the season starts April 6.
Here are a few of the lakes included in the trout hunt.
In Cook County: Axehead and Belleau Lakes, Cook County Forest Preserve District.
In DuPage County: Silver Lake, DuPage County Forest Preserve District.
In Lake County: Banana Lake, as well as Sand Lake at Illinois Beach State Park.
Wild cat:
A male mountain lion estimated to be 2½ years old that snatched a Dachshund off it leash as it was being walked in a gated community near Colorado Springs, Colo., was successfully trapped by Parks and Wildlife personnel and subsequently euthanized after officials determined it to be “a threat to public safety.”
Fishing report:
Bangs Lake in Wauconda is still playing host to ice anglers for both day and night fishing. Scrappy bluegills on the menu.
Parts of the Fox Chain seem to be open, especially Nippersink and Petite Lakes on the south end..
There’s some walleye action below the McHenry Dam with staging fish starting their spring rituals.
