Punish gang bangers, not gun owners

When it comes to drunken driving, we place blame on the driver, not the car or the alcohol. There aren’t any proposals to ban alcohol, no proposed new laws to make it more difficult for the rest of us to drive. The guilty are punished and the rest of us are left alone.

When it comes to gun violence, it seems as if we want to make the gun more guilty than the man pulling the trigger. There are more and more “common sense” proposals to ban this type of gun or that type of magazine.

If you want to solve a problem you need to put a face to it. Most of the faces in this case belong to gang members. Punish them. While you are at it why don’t you punish the buyers of illegal narcotics? They are the ones that provide the money to purchase guns. Punish them and leave me alone.
