Elderly St. Charles woman found

An elderly St. Charles woman missing since Sunday morning was found safe this evening in East Lansing, Mich.

Sarah Mignin, 89, was reported missing Sunday morning after she did not arrive at her daughter's house for an expected visit.

At about 5:45 p.m. Monday, Mignin stopped at a Panda Express to ask for directions, said Paul McCurtain, St. Charles Police Department's public information officer.

A couple there noticed that she seemed confused and asked her if she had any phone numbers for family members that they could call.

They were then in touch with Mignin's daughter and local law enforcement officials, who made arrangements for her return home.

Police officers in four surrounding states have been on the look out for Mignin's white 2004 Honda Accord since she was reported missing Sunday.

Authorities were able to trace her credit card purchases to a gas station in Walworth, Wis., Sunday and again today in Woodland, Mich.

Although she wasn't known to have any health issues, she had been forgetful lately, family members had said.
