Businesses coming back to Rand Road in Arlington Hts.

Several new businesses will be opening along the busy Rand Road corridor that runs through Arlington Heights this spring, officials say.

The 73,000-square-foot space that used to house Garden Fresh Market at 600 E. Rand Road will soon become Floor & Decor, a home improvement company that also has a location in Lombard. The company’s business is made up of 40 percent contractors and 60 percent “do it yourself” installers, according to store manager Ali Zahed.

Zahed called the business, which will open in April, a “toy store” for homeowners and contractors.

For people looking to do more than just their floors, a new window and door company will also be opening next door, said John Melaniphy, business and development coordinator for the village.

Further north on Rand Road, Petco and Lazy Boy Furniture will be opening in the old PetSmart location at the Annex of Arlington, Melaniphy said.

The revitalization on Rand Road is part of what officials said is a pickup in new businesses around the village as the economy continues to recover.
