Missing Downers Grove man found dead

A Downers Grove man missing for a week and a half was found dead Sunday in downstate Pope County.

William Foley was last seen leaving his IT job in Lombard at 1 p.m. Feb. 6 and was thought to be driving a 1997 white Ford Escort.

Investigators for the District 22 Illinois State Police were not in the office Monday, but an officer confirmed that Foley was found in rural Pope County. He could not provide any further details.

Family members do not believe police are investigating the death further.

“He was just a very quiet, decent guy. Hard working. A Marine. And he loved his daughter,” said Foley’s brother Jim, of Naperville. “It’s been very difficult.”

Foley is survived by his wife, Vicki, and a daughter, Caitlyn, 22.

Loved ones created a Facebook page “Help Find Bill Foley” that accrued more than 1,130 likes and was viewed by more than 40,000 people.

An announcement appeared on the page Monday saying that his body had been found.

The message said, in part: “Bill was a great brother, son, dad, uncle, cousin, husband and friend! He will be missed by many and he will never be forgotten. He was a Marine who served his country and he was a man who loved always. With sadness we will say goodbye to Bill, but with smiling hearts we are better people for having known Bill and been part of his life. Bill is now with God and we pray that God be with all of you for your support! We love you all!”

A visitation has been scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Blake Lamb Funeral Home, 5015 Lincoln Ave. in Lisle. A memorial Mass will take place at 11:15 a.m. Friday at the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 820 Division St. in Lisle.
