Why forge ahead with Smart Meters?

I am very concerned as to why Naperville’s City Council is continuing to forge ahead with the installation of smart meters when there are moratoriums across the country … as well in other countries … due to numerous concerns involving them.

If there is any question regarding their safety, accuracy, health risks and privacy, wouldn’t the reasonable and responsible action be to halt any further installations until addition research could be done and a concrete determination could be made?

Why will our city officials not do this on behalf of the citizens they’ve been voted to represent? Why is there such a pricey alternative to the wireless meters?

A $68 installation fee along with a $24.95 monthly fee for the non-wireless option seems to be a punishment to many residents.

Also, why the intimidation and bullying tactics against the Naperville residents who express concern as to the safety and privacy of the meters?

Does the city council feel they are above the law? Do they really think there are no consequences to their flagrant misuse and abuse of power? I truly hope we see justice for the Naperville taxpayer and residents.
