Aurora votes to remove parking meters
Parking in downtown Aurora will be free starting later this year when parking meters are slated to be removed, after a vote yesterday by the Aurora city council. The new plan hopes to improve the business climate by allowing free parking for a specified amount of time to encourage high turnover in front of businesses. Full story.
State officials want sex offender committed
A former West Dundee man with multiple sexual assault convictions should be committed so he can’t attack again, the Illinois attorney general’s office said. Jamal Sharifpour is expected to be released from Dixon Correctional Center Monday. He’ll be held by the Department of Human Services while the case plays out. Full story.

Ducks beat Blackhawks in shootout

Schaumburg to consider community beekeeping
A community bee yard is under consideration in Schaumburg after trustees gave the blessing to start the review process last night. Under the plan, the village would provide and prepare the location, but the hives would be maintained by beekeepers who reside in the community. Full story.
