Do we need new school in Wheaton?

On Jan. 11, the Daily Herald stated, "Dist. 200 will ask you for millions." Why? People are hurting economically and yet they are requesting funds for a new school (Jefferson).

In asking for those funds, they must be oblivious of what has happened to our economy, and the ensuing joblessness.

Data from the U.S. Census Bureau, from 2000 to 2010 show Illinois had a 6.2 percent drop in children under the age of 10, among the biggest decline in the country. In DuPage County the decrease is 11.5 percent and in Wheaton the decrease is 15.4 percent. With figures such as these, is it necessary to build a new school which could be half empty within the next few years?
