Court ruling will help crime drop

Well Illinois citizens finally will have the right to protect their gift of life and their loved ones. Illinois is way behind the rest of America in granting concealed carry to its citizens. To quote Thomas Jefferson: “A strong body makes the strong mind. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind ... let your gun, therefore, be the constant companion of your walks.”

If Mr. Jefferson said my gun should be my constant companion in my walks, then how can Gov. Pat Quinn and the legislators tell me it can’t? Everyone else in the United States has this right, but our legislators have told their people that they are irresponsible and can’t be trusted to protect their own life and we will tell you when and where you can protect your life. I say hogwash!

You will not have the Wild West. Forty nine other states do not have the Wild West. Most of the recent shootings have been in “gun free” zones like the theater massacre. An armed society is a polite society. Chicago needs it the most, and yet their leaders prefer you be unarmed and take the bullet.

It’s a new day in Illinois, one in which crime will go down like the other states and the criminal now faces an armed subject rather than an easy mark. Thank you, appellate court.
