Lombard condo fire injures one

A Friday morning fire injured one person and caused roughly $100,000 damage to a first-floor condominium unit in Lombard, authorities said.

The resident was hurt attempting to extinguish the fire, but refused transportation to a hospital after being treated at the scene in the 1300 block of South Lore Lane, according to the Lombard Fire Department.

Smoke and flames were seen coming from the first-floor condo unit about 9:50 a.m., so Lombard firefighters called for assistance from the Downers Grove, Lisle-Woodridge, Oak Brook and York Center fire departments.

Damage was contained mostly to one unit, as firefighters were able to extinguish the flames quickly, authorities said.

The Lombard Fire Investigation Unit is probing the cause of the fire.
