Today’s tipoff: Bulls vs. Mavericks

Update: The Mavericks have plenty in common with the Bulls. Their injured all-star, Dirk Nowitzki, is much older than Derrick Rose, but is expected back from a knee injury sooner, around mid-December. Dallas has had some good moments, such as beating the Knicks last week, but was 7-7 heading into Tuesday’s game at Philadelphia. SG O.J. Mayo has been a pleasant surprise, averaging 21.5 points and shooting nearly 50 percent. Center Chris Kaman is the second-leading scorer at 13.7 pts, followed by Vince Carter at 13.2.
