Mini triathlon benefits YMCA

The Lake County Family YMCA hosts a “Save the Y” indoor mini triathlon from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Northern Lake YMCA, 2000 Western Ave., Waukegan. Participants will do a 10-minute ride on a stationary bike, a 10-minute run on a treadmill and a 10-minute swim. There will be a 10-minute transition between each sport, and participants will do their activities at various start times throughout the day. The person who covers the most distance overall, based on adding the subtotal from each of the three sports, will win an “I Did the Tri To Save the Y” T-shirt donated by American Outfitters of Waukegan. Winners in various age groups, beginning at age 8, will get the T-shirt. Cost is $15 per person or $75 for an organization/business with up to five participants. There is a $5 discount for a family of three or more. Registration is through Nov. 27. Anyone interested in making a donation or registering should call (847) 775-7103 or email mgalindo@ymcalakecounty.org.
