Des Plaines man charged with 2 counts of armed robbery
A Des Plaines man was arrested on Sunday on two counts of armed robbery after police say he robbed a liquor store and gas station at gunpoint in the past few days.
Jerod Butters, 25 of the 800 block of E. Oakton Street, was arrested on two counts of armed robbery on Sunday, according to a release from Des Plaines police.
Butters is suspected of being involved with an armed robbery that happened on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 6:03 p.m. at Des Plaines Liquor and Tobacco, 668 Pearson Street, as well as an armed robbery that occurred on 5:35 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 at a Marathon gas station in town, according to the release.
In both robberies, police say Butters presented a gun and demanded money from the clerks.
After being identified by the victims and video cameras from the stores, Des Plaines police arrested Butters at his home early Sunday morning.
Butters gave officers a verbal statement about the robberies and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 26.
