South Barrington man’s autopsy pending toxicology

The official cause of death of a 25-year-old South Barrington man whose body was found Friday won’t be available for several weeks, authorities said.

Results of an autopsy performed Saturday on Vance Nwankwo are pending until toxicology reports are complete, a Cook County medical examiner’s office spokesman said.

Divers from the Barrington Fire Department recovered Nwankwo’s body at about 3 p.m. Friday after a five-hour search of a pond near his house in the Spring Creek subdivision at Penny and Bartlett roads.

Nwankwo, who was mildly autistic, had been missing since Oct. 30, when a cabdriver reportedly brought him home from a Halloween party at the Drink nightclub in Schaumburg.

Friends posted on Facebook that a candlelight vigil will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday at Barbara B. Rose Elementary School, 61 Penny Road, South Barrington.
