Judge Walters has instinct, humanity
Often during an election we focus most of our attention on the major candidates, which is quite understandable and a good thing. Amid all this, a local circuit court judge race may not cross our radar at all. But think of the reasons a community would benefit from a fair, unbiased and sensible judge. Intelligent, well thought out rulings have a much better effect on society than the opposite.
I am writing this letter to endorse John Walters. John, a former Elgin city councilman, has been on the bench since Oct. 31, 2011, when he was unanimously appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court. I have know him for more than 10 years and in that time uncovered more and more of his character, mainly through discussions of justice and compassion in a troubled world. His understanding of the complexities that underscore each case brought before him. His willingness to dit into that, aid him in reaching the best solution for the person accused, as well as their family and the community. His regard for humanity combined with instincts based on years of practicing law, help define his dedication to this extremely important position.
I urge you to vote for John Walters on Nov. 6.
