Victim dies after being trapped under car

A 73-year-old man who died after being found unresponsive underneath his car Friday might have been working on the vehicle when it shifted and he became trapped by the rear tire, authorities said.

The victim, identified as Robert Pokorny of an unincorporated area near Libertyville, was discovered under the car at 12:43 p.m. Friday in the sledding hill parking lot of Adler Park, 1500 Milwaukee Ave., according to Libertyville police.

Pokorny was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead at 1:32 p.m.

Police said it was unknown why Pokorny was working underneath his vehicle.

Lake County Coroner Artis Yancey said Friday night an official cause of death had not been determined as the autopsy was still in progress.
