Palatine Fire Dept. to hold open house Oct. 6

The Palatine Fire Department, as part of National Fire Prevention Week, will host its annual open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Station 84, 220 W. Illinois Ave., Palatine.

The family-friendly, interactive event will feature fire and rescue vehicles and equipment on display, station tours and refreshments. The department’s Dive Rescue, Hazardous Materials, Technical Rescue, Bike Medic and Fire Investigation teams also will have equipment on display.

Demonstrations and activities will include an auto extrication presentation and a fire behavior class presented by the department’s own “Mr. Wizard.” Depending on the weather and other emergencies, the Flight for Life helicopter will arrive at 10 a.m.
