Fire damages Medinah home’s garage

Although a fire damaged the attached garage of a Medinah home Wednesday night, firefighters were able to prevent the blaze from spreading inside.

Fire officials said the owner of the home on the 0-99 block of Foster Avenue was arriving back at his home just as fire crews made it to the scene.

A neighbor called in the fire at 6:05 p.m., and the blaze was put out at 6:24 p.m., said Roselle Fire Protection District Shift Cmdr. Chris Howell.

The small fire caused minor smoke damage to the inside of the two-story home, but the flames never reached the interior, Howell said.

Nobody was home when the fire started, and the cause remained under investigation Wednesday night.

Fire crews from Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Itasca, Elk Grove and Schaumburg assisted the Roselle Fire District.

There were no vehicles in the garage during the fire and no injuries reported to an civilians or firefighters.

Officials did not have a damage estimate Wednesday night.
