Marlins dispatch Rockies 6-5
DENVER — Jose Reyes and Giancarlo Stanton homered, Wade LeBlanc won for the first time as a starter and the Miami Marlins beat the Colorado Rockies 6-5 on Friday night.
John Buck and Gorkys Hernandez had two hits each for the Marlins, who won for just the third time in their last 10 games.
Steve Cishek pitched a perfect ninth to pick up his eighth save.
Wilin Rosario had two hits and two RBIs for the Rockies, who had their four-game winning streak stopped.
Eleven of Colorado’s 12 hits were singles.
Stanton tied it with a leadoff homer off reliever Josh Roenicke (4-1) in the sixth, his 23rd of the season. Donovan Solano followed with a triple and scored on Buck’s double to give the Marlins a 6-5 lead.
The Rockies had had the tying run on second in the seventh, but Dexter Fowler and Carlos Gonzalez struck out to strand Eric Young Jr.
Tyler Colvin lined out softly to end the eighth with runners at the corners.
Reyes gave the Marlins a 4-2 lead with a three-run homer off starter Jeff Francis in the top of the fifth. It was his ninth home run of the season.
The Rockies came right back in their half of the inning to retake the lead on three singles and a groundout.
Josh Rutledge drove in the first run with a single to short, Gonzalez’s groundout tied it and Rosario’s two-out single to center gave Colorado a 5-4 lead.
LeBlanc (2-2) was lifted for a pinch hitter after the fifth. He allowed five runs on nine hits and struck out a pair to get his first win since moving into the rotation on Aug. 1.
The Marlins jumped ahead 1-0 on Carlos Lee’s RBI double in the first. Rosario and Jordan Pacheco had run-scoring singles in the fourth to give Colorado a 2-1 lead.
NOTES: Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said Emilio Bonifacio will play exclusively in the outfield when he returns from the disabled list Sunday. ...
