Sam’s Club looking to hire for new Randall Road store

Sam’s Club will need almost 200 employees to staff its Elgin store, slated to open later this summer. The retailer, which will open next to Elgin’s new Walmart at 1000 S. Randall Road, is looking for full- and part-time employees for a variety of positions. Supervisors are also being hired.

“We are proud to add the newest Sam’s Club to Kane County and bring good jobs with career opportunities to the Elgin area,” store manager Shoaib Iqbal said.

A temporary hiring center is accepting applications from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays at 240 S. Randall Road in South Elgin.

Sam’s Club, a division of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., first opened in 1983 and has grown to include more than 600 stores and 47 million members in the United States, Brazil, China and Mexico, according to its website.

When Walmart was originally planning to open a superstore at Bowes and Randall roads in Elgin with a Sam’s Club next door, it estimated sales tax revenues of $822,500 for the city of Elgin this first year and $1.3 million in its 15th year, according to Elgin’s Chief Financial Officer Colleen Lavery.

Sam’s Club sales tax revenues to the city, though expected to be slightly less in its first year, are projected to reach $1.5 million in its 15th year.

In the Sam’s Club hiring spree, most of the new employees will start this month to help prepare for a grand opening later in the summer.

Applications for the positions can also be submitted online at walmartstores.com/careers.
