Poll Vault: What’s a childhood possession you wish you still had?

The discovery of more than 700 century-old baseball cards in an Ohio attic had many of us editors waxing nostalgic about what we collected as kids — and what those items might be worth today.

If only we hadn’t used those Topps cards for sound effects in our bicycle spokes.

If only we hadn’t thrown those 45 rpm records around like Frisbees.

If only we hadn’t taken those Kenner “Star Wars” action figures out of the packages.

If only Mom hadn’t pitched our comic books into the trash.

What toys or collectibles do you wish you still had from your childhood? Could you bear to part with them today, or would you sell them for quick cash on eBay?

This 1910 E98 Ty Cobb baseball card was found in the attic of a house in Defiance, Ohio, with about 700 others. The best of the bunch — 37 cards — are expected to bring a total of $500,000 when they are sold at auction in August. Heritage Auctions of Dallas
A good copy of “The Amazing Spider-Man” No. 2 from 1963 would fetch considerably more than the 12-cent cover price today. File Photo
