New restaurant to open in West Dundee

West End Restaurant and Bar will open at the end of the month at 629 S. Eighth St., West Dundee, the site of the former Regina’s Italian Restaurant.

West End will serve upscale Americana cuisine with different bar food items, according to a restaurant representative. The menu will give customers choices like stuffed filet mignon, flat breads and classic homemade burgers.

Village Manager Joe Cavallaro said he is excited for another privately owned restaurant to pop up in the area. “I hope the community comes out and supports them,” he said.

Cavallaro believes many people gravitate toward restaurant chains instead of new tastes in the area. The competition is arguably a big reason Regina’s closed in March after seven years at the location.

The economy was another cause. But with a new restaurant opening, Cavallaro said it is a huge positive for the area.

“I think it will continue to keep the economic focus in the area,” he said.

The restaurant continues to seek experienced employees to help make the restaurant flourish. It expects to hire 20.

In Cavallaro’s eyes, new privately owned places boost the economy. “(It) continues to emphasize the importance of shopping and dining locally ... to make for a healthy and successful community.”
