A Bartlett man was jailed on $750,000 bail Saturday after authorities seized four machine guns and several large containers of bomb-making chemicals from a Roselle building, police said.

Tony E. Johnson, 44, of the 300 block of Wilmington Drive, was charged with four felony counts of unlawful use of a weapon, according to a police news release.

Police said they were called to Johnson's Bartlett condominium Tuesday and found him in possession of a 12-guage shotgun while having a revoked Firearm Owner's Identification card. Authorities later searched a second location in the 800 block of West Lake Street in Roselle and located four machine guns and several large containers of chemicals used to make explosives, police said.

Johnson was charged in the earlier incident with felony possession of a firearm without a FOID card and misdemeanor resisting a peace officer. After posting bond Friday, he was arrested again at the Rolling Meadows courthouse in connection with the machine guns, police said.

Johnson appeared in court Saturday before DuPage County Judge Jane Mitton, who set bail at $750,000, authorities said. He would have to post $75,000 to be released.

Police said the case remains under investigation by local authorities, the Department of Homeland Security and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.
