Little City recognized for ‘cultural competence’

The Human Rights Campaign this week recognized Palatine-based Little City Foundation as the first and only foster care and adoption agency in Illinois to obtain cultural competence in serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. The civil rights organization presented Little City representatives with its All Children, All Families seal, part of an initiative that seeks to enhance LGBT cultural competence among child welfare professionals and educate the LGBT community about opportunities to become foster or adoptive parents to children in need. Little City, which serves adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, consistently achieves a placement stability rate of more than 95 percent, the organization said.
