North Aurora attorney winner of commitment to community award
Submitted by North Aurora Mothers Club
Every year, the North Aurora Mothers Club nominates exceptional members of the community to receive the commitment to community award. The winner is selected because he or she best meets the elements of the club’s mission statement, which is to improve the social, emotional, educational, and physical well-being of the children and families of North Aurora, and its surrounding communities.
Kevin Drendel, a longtime resident of North Aurora, is president of his law firm located in Batavia. He has served as general legal counsel for the village of North Aurora since 1997 and recently has been appointed general legal counsel for the city of Batavia. His volunteer efforts as an attorney include extensive work for the Kane County Bar Association and Kane County Bar Foundation, as well as pro bono work for a local nonprofit law firm that helps low-income, elderly and disabled clients.
Drendel has been a North Aurora Lions Club member since 2008, and he also organizes the Fishing Derby during North Aurora Days. He coaches wrestling locally for youth wrestling clubs, and is involved in the Goodwin Elves program for children at Goodwin Elementary School.
The North Aurora Mothers Club is pleased to announce that in addition to being the 2012 recipient of the Commitment to Community award, Drendel will serve as the grand marshal of the third annual North Aurora Community Parade on Sunday, June 3. The parade will kick off at 2 p.m. from the corner of Randall Road and Oak Street and proceed east to the riverfront, culminating in a Post-Parade Party, sponsored by North Aurora River District Alliance, at North Aurora Island Park.
