Indiana softball player improving after lightning strike

SEYMOUR, Ind. — A southern Indiana high school freshman is on the mend after being struck by lightning as she and other members of a girls softball team were practicing outside Seymour High School.

Seymour Community Schools Superintendent Teran Armstrong tells The Tribune of Seymour (http://bit.ly/y14AqZ ) that Emily Bobb was taken to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis after lightning struck her Thursday afternoon.

Hospital spokesman Gene Ford said Friday morning that Bobb was admitted in critical condition but she’s been upgraded to good condition.

Armstrong says three other girls were taken to a Seymour hospital after the lightning strike, complaining of headaches, but they were released Thursday evening.

Seymour Police Chief Bill Abbott said skies were clear at the time of the lightning strike about 50 miles south of Indianapolis.
