St. Hubert School sends blankets of love to veterans

Submitted by Debra Tutak

The faculty and staff at St. Hubert School in Hoffman Estates were involved in a service project for Valentine’s Day. Over a few weeks, after school, they cut and tied 35 fleece blankets and attached bags of candy and cards made by the students at St. Hubert School to give to the blind veterans at Hines VA Hospital.

On Friday, Feb. 10, Phil Jelen, a service officer for the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a Vietnam veteran picked up the blankets and candy to present to the vets in the hospital. Phil said this really means a lot to the vets.

The faculty and staff told Phil that it is the greatest reward to be able to give back to the vets who have sacrificed so much for our country.
