Teams gathering for Walk & Roll to help fight cancer

Submitted by American Cancer Society

Friends, neighbors and cancer survivors are coming together from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Elgin Public House, 219 E. Chicago St., Elgin.

Anyone who wishes to form a team, volunteer to help with planning the event or wants to hear more about this year’s highlights is encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served.

Walk & Roll is a community event where participants can choose from a 5-mile walk, 10-mile inline skate or a 15-mile bike ride. Teams of friends, families and co-workers come together to fight cancer and raise funds prior to the event, often to commemorate friends and family who have lost their lives to cancer or honor those who currently struggle with the disease. This year, the Society hopes to attract more than 10,000 participants and raise $1 million statewide to help people stay well and get well, to fund and find new cures, and to rally people to fight back.

The 2012 Fox Valley Walk & Roll event will be held on Saturday, May 5, at Festival Park in downtown Elgin.
