Blagojevich posts New Year's message

The new year is likely to be anything but a happy one for Rod Blagojevich.

But the prison-bound former governor has posted a message via his Twitter account and Facebook page wishing any supporters a happy 2012.

The 55-year-old added that "these are dark and extremely challenging times" for him, his wife and two daughters.

The ex-governor reports to prison in March to begin serving his 14-year prison term for multiple corruption counts. They include his attempt to sell or trade President Barack Obama's old Senate seat.

Blagojevich also sought to strike an upbeat note. He said his lawyers are working on an appeal. And he said that — despite his legal troubles — he and his family continued "to look to the New Year with hope."
