Elgin man faces child porn charges

Police found an Elgin man in possession of child pornography after executing a search warrant Monday night, according to police officials.

Elgin Police Department spokeswoman Sue Olafson said police conducted the search because of information suggesting Brian H. Turschman, 28, of the 2500 block of Ann Way, had pornography.

“We executed the search warrant, we discovered that he did, in fact, have it and we arrested him,” Olafson said.

Turschman appeared in Kane County bond court Tuesday. The man is charged with the dissemination of a pornographic video of a child younger than 13 as well as possession of a pornographic photo of a child, according to court documents.

Olafson did not release further information about the amount of pornography Turschman was found with or what form it was in because of the status of the investigation and pending court case.

Bail was set at $500,000 Tuesday, of which Turschman must pay 10 percent to be released before his next court date, scheduled for Nov. 14 in St. Charles.

If convicted of the most serious charge, Turschman could face up to 30 years in prison.
