Strike vote at Zion-Benton High:

Teachers at Zion-Benton Township High School are expected to hold a strike authorization vote Wednesday. Lake County Federation of Teachers union President Michael McGue said the vote became necessary because Zion-Benton District 126 board members have declared an impasse in contract negotiations. A vote in favor by the members would give union leaders the ability to call a strike. Instructors were scheduled to hold an informational picket outside the high school Wednesday morning. McGue said there about 280 teachers union members at the school. The school has roughly 2,800 students.
