1 dead, 1 on life support in Lake Villa Twp.

Lake County sheriff’s police were investigating a shooting Sunday afternoon in Lake Villa Township.

Wayne Hunter, sheriff’s chief of administration, said a 52-year-old man was dead from an apparent gunshot wound. A 49-year-old woman was hospitalized and on life support late Sunday, he said, after suffering gunshots to the head and chest.

Hunter said the names of the victims were being withheld pending the notification of relatives.

Deputies were summoned to the house around 4 p.m. by a pair of 911 calls reporting a domestic incident with shots fired.

The first of the calls is believed to have come from the woman after she had been shot, Hunter said, and the second came from a 21-year-old male who was inside the house at the time.

The woman was found outside the house on the front step, Hunter said. She was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The male victim was found inside the house.

The 21-year-old is being treated as a potential witness, Hunter said, and was being interviewed by detectives Sunday evening.
