No leads yet on Arlington Hts. gun thefts

Arlington Heights police have no leads yet on the theft of five guns and $10,000 in cash from a residence on the 1800 block of North Windsor Drive last week, Commander Kenneth Galinski said Tuesday.

The thief forced open a rear sliding glass door and ransacked several rooms in the morning or early afternoon on Wednesday, July 20.

The handguns were valued at about $2,500, police said.

Several rifles removed from an upstairs office were found near the door, making police suspect the burglars were interrupted by something, possibly the resident coming home.

The guns were not of an unusual or suspicious nature, such as assault weapons, said Galinski, who is head of investigations for the Arlington Heights Police Department.

The resident, who has an Illinois Firearm Owner’s Identification Card, could not suggest any possible suspects, said police.
