OWI suspected after Wis. motorist drives wrong way

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee County authorities have arrested a man accused of driving the wrong way down a freeway with a blood-alcohol level nearly four times the legal limit.

Sheriff's deputies responded to a call Wednesday just after midnight of a truck driving the wrong way. Authorities say the driver collided with a tow truck and exited the freeway.

Deputies stopped the driver a short time later. They say the 52-year-old had alcohol on his breath, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. A preliminary breath test registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.30 percent.

The tow-truck driver had swerved to avoid a head-on collision with the man, and struck the back of a semi-trailer. No injuries were reported.

The 52-year-old has been arrested on a tentative charge of first-offense driving while intoxicated.
