Power back on for most in Lake County

Thousands of ComEd customers were left in the dark Wednesday after power was knocked out due to early morning storms Wednesday.

ComEd officials said that at the storms’ height, 15,700 people were without power.

The company had power restored all but 800 of those customers by 4:45 p.m., said ComEd spokesman Bennie Currie. He said the Libertyville region, which includes Fox Lake, Grayslake, Vernon Hills and Gurnee, among others, was hit hardest by the early morning storm.

Currie said crews will work into the night to get the last remaining customers back online.
