Boy injured in hit-and-run is stable, Elgin police say

The 5-year-old boy injured in a hit-and-run accident in Elgin is in stable condition and doing well, authorities said Sunday.

In the meantime, police continue to look for the driver of the dark-colored compact car believed to have been involved in the accident.

The accident occurred Friday evening when the car jumped a curb and struck the boy in front of his house on the 200 block of Orchard Street. The boy remains hospitalized at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
