How should Arlington Heights mark 125 years?

Ideas for celebrating the 125th anniversary of Arlington Heights will be collected at a community forum at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, 111 W. Campbell St.

The Village's Quasquicentennial will be celebrated throughout 2012 to recognize 125 years of being named Arlington Heights. The theme for the yearlong celebration is “Honor the Past. Celebrate the Present. Explore the Future.”

During 2012, the Arlington Heights Quasquicentennial Committee will celebrate the anniversary at existing special events and hold other activities to mark the Quasquicentennial.

The committee wants residents, businesses, neighborhood groups, families and civic groups to attend the brainstorming session. Parking is available in the Vail Avenue Garage just south of Metropolis.

Early organizational plans will be announced at the meeting. The celebration will kickoff in November at the Holiday Lighting celebration in North School Park.
