2 out of Glen Ellyn park race

Two candidates have withdrawn from the Glen Ellyn Park District board race.

Hugh Johnson said he decided to withdraw after officials informed him of the park district’s nepotism policy, which forbids board members from having family members who work for the district. Soon after Johnson filed his papers for candidacy, his wife was hired as a fitness coordinator.

Another candidate, Don Stuffelbeam, said he withdrew after having previously served on other boards for 30 years and deciding he’s “had enough.”

There are five remaining candidates for three 4-year terms on the board: incumbent Ed Hess, Kathy Cornell, Richard Dunn, Catherine Galvin and Gary Mayo.
