Report: Round Lake man punched Lincolnshire cop

A Round Lake man has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery after punching a Lincolnshire police officer during a Sunday morning confrontation, police said.

Abelardo Sanchez, 22, of the 200 block of W. Forest Avenue, also faces charges of domestic battery, battery and resisting a peace office after hitting the officer in the face at 5:21 a.m. at the Marriott Courtyard in the 500 block of Milwaukee Avenue, Investigator Adam Hyde said.

Hyde said officers were called to the hotel after employees complained of a domestic disturbance.

Officers went to the hotel room to speak with Sanchez and others involved, at which point Sanchez became irritated and punched one of the officers, Hyde said.

Sanchez was arrested and Lake County State's Attorneys approved the charges against him later Sunday, Hyde said. He was taken to Lake County jail, where he is held on $75,000 bond.
